Places on these courses can be booked anytime that works for you, and are completed in your own time. If you give us a call, drop in, or send us an email then we will enrol you and send out the login information.
Our RYA instructors are available for support on the courses if needed.
Commercial Endorsement
Commercial Endorsement
A commercial endorsement is required for work on board British flagged vessels subject to the MCA's codes of practice for small commercial vessels.
A number of additional training courses and medical fitness certificates are required to be eligible for a commercial endorsement.
What Do I Need Before Applying for Commercial Endorsement
- Your original certificate (listed on right)
- PPR Certificate
- STCW Personal Survival Techniques/ RYA Basic Sea Survival
- SRC Marine Radio VHF/DSC or other acceptable GMDSS Marine Radio Operators Certificate
- Copy of ML5 or ENG1
- Commercial Endorsement Application Form
- Application Fee
What Certificates Can Be Commercially Endorsed
Standard commercial endorsement can be received on:
- RYA Powerboat Level 2
- RYA Day Skipper practical course completion certificate supported by a Day Skipper shorebased course completion certificate. (The Day Skipper shorebased course may be undertaken online or in the classroom. In either case, the exams must be invigilated)
Certificates of Competence (Coc's) that can receive standard commercial endorsement:
- RYA Advanced Powerboat CoC
- RYA Yachtmaster Coastal Coc
- RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Coc
- RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Coc
Revalidating Commercial Endorsement
Commercial endorsements must be revalidated every 5 years. To do this you require:
- At least 150 days of actual sea service on appropriate vessels
- Valid medical certificate
- Application for Revalidation of Commercial Endorsement
