Peedie Masterchef Experience at Orkney College UHI
Today at Orkney College UHI several children came along to find out what it was like to work in a professional kitchen during the “Peedie Masterchef Experience” course.
The children made a three course meal which was designed to let them be creative, as well as show them the challenges that hospitality professionals face.
The first course was deep fried Grimbister cheese. The children cut up and coated their pieces of cheese before the tutor deep fried them.
The second course was mango glazed chicken with rice and roasted vegetables. The children prepared their mango glaze and prepared their vegetables for roasting.
For dessert the children took on the challenge of making chocolate fondant.
Overall, what was prepared not only looked really good but it also tasted great (going by the amount of clean plates around the table!).
Course tutor Daniel Laud said:
“Today has been fantastic fun for the kids as this Peedie Masterchef Experience has shown them what working in a kitchen can be like. They did really well in making sure that their dishes were prepared on time and once finished they looked and tasted great. I think the kids really enjoyed getting stuck in to all aspects of this course (even the washing up!) and I really do hope that it have given them an insight into what working in hospitality can be like.”
