Numeracy Intermediate 2
This Unit is about using numerical skills in everyday settings that involve graphical information, calculations, and solving problems. It will enable you to:
• analyse situations to identify relevant numerical data and relationships to solve problems
• decide which operations to carry out, and in what order, to solve a problem
• use numerical or statistical concepts (for example, quantitative and qualitative information; discrete and continuous data; numbers represented by symbols)
• carry out a number of sustained calculations or at least one specialised calculation
• interpret information from a single complex graphical form or from a series of straightforward interconnected tables, graphs, charts, or diagrams
• select an appropriate type of graphical form and use it to communicate information
The course will require around 40 hours of study, 20 of which will be supported by a tutor

Cake Decorating Night Class
Students will be making the cakes at home and taking them into decorate. The materials for decoration are provided.
During the course students will decorate a victoria sponge, make a teddy bears picnic cake, a chocolate gateaux and a decorated rich fruit cake.

CMI Level 6 Award in First Line Management
This course is intended for people who are considering a move into a first line management role (eg supervisor or team leader), or those who are new to such a role, and who require an introduction to the topic of management. This award is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute. The course will be run over approximately 8 evenings from October to December. The topics covered include:
- Skills and Knowledge Required For A First Line Manager (includes drawing up a personal development plan)
- Understanding Stakeholders and Meeting Their Needs (developing a plan to meet stakeholder needs)
- Developing Working Relationships (methods of developing these)
- Managing Team Performance (including improving team performance)
The course is also available for online learning, which will require a basic competency in IT skills.

Keep Talking Spanish
Conversational Spanish for anyone who has completed Talk Spanish 2, or with prior knowledge of Spanish (level A2 on CEFR or above). The course will be based on Aula 2 International

Social Media for Beginners
The aims and objectives of this course are to provide you with the skills and confidence to use social networking.
By the end of this course you will be able to use various forms of Social Software based around: Facebook, Instant Messaging & Skype, Twitter, Blogs.
You will also be aware of the safety and security implications of using these types of Social Software, have the knowledge you need to make informed choices about the level of engagement you choose to have on social networking sites and have an understanding of the pros and cons of each social networking tool.

Welding
Learn all basic welds, the types of welding rods and their uses. You will be shown how to use electric arc and MIG welders – gas welding equipment is available for those who wish to use it. Safe working practise will be a priority. All students should be able to complete their own project by the end of the course

Archaeology of the Highlands & Islands
The course will take students on a tour of the wonderful archaeological remains of the Highlands & Islands region, exploring the resource of remains and landscapes of the deep past that we have available across our region. Additionally, the course introduces the techniques, methods and concepts whereby archaeologists make sense of this rich past. The approach to the teaching is to involve several members of the Archaeology department staff on a weekly basis to afford students the opportunity to hear from specialist expert researchers on the topics covered by each themed-session.

Conversational Norwegian for Beginners
This course introduces you to the Norwegian language in a fun, grammar-free, book-free way. Learn the language in the natural way, by speaking it with a native Norwegian while you do everyday activities such as packing, cleaning, making sandwiches, playing board games, looking up bus timetables, building Lego, etc.
